YuiTamahome and YuiTamahomeUnrequited Love

She loved him from the moment she met him but his heart fell for her best friend, Tamahome and Yui, a couple destined for disaster. Yui in her jealousy poisons the man she “claims” to love to steel him away from her best friend turned enemy. When that doesn't work she uses her wishes as the Priestess of Seiryu to try to destroy their love which almost leads to her own demise.

Did it happen?

Yes actually. She drugged Tamahome with Kodoku to do it. Under the Influence, Tamahome was at her beckoning call. But he was also mean, forceful and generally made a nuisance of himself, willing to destroy the woman he really loved...almost. He did a bang up job on her though. He and Tasuki fought an evenly matched bout till Miaka begged Tasuki to stop. After such, he beat Tasuki to a bloody pulp. Next he went after Hotohori attempting to assassinate him to no avail. Yui finally had her man (except for the fact that Nakago did also but that’s another story) He would do anything for her at that time.

Did it last?

Of course not. The Kodoku was eventually overpowered by his love for Miaka, her love for him and a nearly fatal blow from Hotohori. I mean when given the opportunity to make love to Yui (whom he was programmed to love) he could not do it. But anyway. Love relationships based on drugs never work.

My Opinion.

(like any of this isn't)
Just because Yui fell for Tamahome doesn't give her the right to take him from Miaka, especially when Tamahome had informed her of his decision. He chose Miaka over Yui. If she just accepted it she would have saved everybody a whole lot of pain and death. Trying to force Tamahome to change his mind with drugs or otherwise is completely unfair. I don't care what she went through, that kind of selfishness is unproductive.
