Majestic Romance

If you have seen the third episode of the television series then you know how hot this couple can get. The lonely Emperor falls in love with the energetic Priestess from another world.

Could it happen?

Well It did. At least until Miaka realized she really loved Tamahome. And then It happened again when Tamahome was drugged and started acting crazy (well, When he tried to kill Miaka I think she got the hint).

Hotohori , Why Miaka?

Well my interpretation of his own words was that because he's been so set apart from all other people (no playmates, no friends, only servants) he actually fell in love with this dream of the Miko. So in all actuality, If Yui instead of Miaka was chosen to be Suzako no Miko he would have fallen in love with her instead. BUT... even after he was rejected over Tamahome, he still carried a torch for her. He didn't finally give up on her till the Seishi went on that long mission of the Shinsaho. So along the way he really must have fallen in love with her.

Miaka, Why not Hotohori?

Hotohori is the bloody Emperor, for crying out loud. He treated her like a queen. He treated her with great respect. He could easily provide for her and he truly cared deeply for her. What more can you ask for??? And I know she is in love with Tama-chan but Still Hotohori made the first play for her. (Tamahome's kiss to forehead not withstanding)

Could it have worked?

Possibly. We will never know. Miaka did have feelings for Hotohori when they first meet. But her feelings for Tamahome overpower them. So there is a distinct possibility that it could have worked.
